Clarity allows us to go beyond the brief!

At most times, when there is a brief to execute something at the point of the brief it feels and sounds clear and simple enough. As we take time to fully understand what the brief entails, then we usually as part of the exploration process discover that there a few things that are not quite clear on the detail side.

At this point, it is easy to find ourselves defaulting to being our own answers and try find a solution with the knowledge that we have. What is a challenge with this approach is that we risk getting to an output that is actually not in line with what was expected. On the other side, if we work hard to getting the clarity that is needed, this allows us to execute with a lot of confidence, and over time allows us to exceed what was initially briefed.

The best gift that we can give to ourselves is to always operate from a point of clarity. The gift we can give to those that give us briefs is to actually go beyond the brief, and deliver more than what was expected.
