As I kick off my week officially, I do with an understanding that the one thing that I cannot negotiate or get more of time. We have a certain time that is available to us to be productive. It is in this time, that we need to really guard against distractions that will not bring us closer to our goals. As an idea, this sounds like it makes the most sense, however, it is hard to truly have a day where there is absolute focus applied.
We all have a picture of an ideal, successful day and we need to work towards fully achieving that picture. This requires us to evaluate not at the end of the week, but daily to see if we have met our objectives of the day. If all we could do was one thing and we did that thing well, what would we want to spend the most of our day on?
For us to evaluate our days daily, we need to evaluate one thing against a set measure of kpis / criteria that will determine how we performed.
