We need to all admit it, whatever industry that we are in, we need to ensure that we know the latest in terms of news and developments that will impact our customers, and as a result impact us. Each industry has continued changes, developments and sometimes just some great initiatives that your brand can get benefit in supporting.

The internet has a lot of tools that can make this possible, which is a good start. There are media monitoring companies and resources that can help us all get better. Below are practical things that as a Marketer you can do, this list aims to keep this simple and digestible to get you started.

· Set up some google alerts, these are free and will land straight to your inbox.
· Use platforms like google trends to look at some keywords in your industry
· Set up a trends session with your team, try to structure this quarterly as a start.
· Subscribe to or join an industry body, this will definitely serve you well in your career.
