GET BETTER AT UNDERSTANDING THE CONVENTIONS OF YOUR INDUSTRY, THEN BREAK FROM THEM.

Each industry has a way of doing things that everyone usually falls in line with. Whether its how they advertise or create their customer experience, there is a certain thread that can be found with all the different competitors in that field. Our role as brand practitioners, marketers is simply to find the opportunity to break away from the convention and find different ways of delighting our customers, and in turn stand out in a crowded market place.
As you are reading this, you will agree that whatever industry you are in, there is competition and you are all keen to stand out and be chosen by customers. There are some practical steps as Marketers we can take in order to realise this opportunity that exists if we pursue it.
1. Collaborate with people that are outside your industry, they will at most times bring a fresh perspective to your challenges.
2. Find ways to test what is important in the conventions of your industry, at most time, they might not be popular to your customers.
3. Actively seek out insights into your customers and industry, research will at most times help you with this.
