Deep down, we all want to create work that stands out from all the noise and clutter. We want to give the best version of our creativity to the work that is associated with us. I genuinely believe that everyone that receives a brief from a client really wants to put their own stamp on it, and use that to show their potential when given the chance.
If this is the case, then why do we find ourselves in a space where everyone seems to be more likely doing the same thing? Why does it feel that we are all signing the same song, hoping that we are going to stand out? Is it because of the fact that we have gotten used to being professional and abiding by the code of being professional? Are we looking at the brand guidelines too much and our ideas are not surviving the pressure test from the brand team?
Is it more brave clients required, and even braver agencies needed to help clients get braver?
The best work that anyone brand can do is to understand their own brand personality, and then work hard in making the personality come out in the work that gets done. Good work is good, but work with a bit of personality really stands out!
