Great, standout work is something that everyone wants to do. It’s the stuff that dreams are made off and we all seek to find that piece of work that will validate our love for the work that we do. This is great from an intention point of view, but this does not guarantee the results. Does the music artist go to the studio to try and create a hit song or does he go there to just make music for his or her next album?

This is why a lot of people will come out and say why the advice that they get from the ones that are at the top of their games does not necessarily wok. It’s because there is a view that if I what the great’s in my industry are doing, I should be able to attract the same results if not better. The reality is that it will take a bit more than that. It will need us to commit to a process for achieving the desired excellence, our willingness to work hard towards it, and being at peace with the fact that even if we follow the process, and it might not lead to the desired outcome.

So the trick is not to decide to create a masterpiece, the idea is that you need to work hard on continually creating the work that you care about, and one day this might create an opportunity for a masterpiece.
